£250,000 was raised for the Lloyd's Charities Trust partner charities in the month-long Lloyd's Charity Challenge by the 11 teams involved. Below is a taste of the charities' great work.
Coram
Coram is one of England's oldest charities and works with children, young people and their families in London and beyond. The services provided focus on building self-esteem and emotional well-being. The charity is one of the UK's leading adoption agencies; it works with young people through the housing support services and runs a parents centre providing community-based training for parenting. It also offers family support services.
FARM-Africa
FARM-Africa is an international organisation that aims to reduce poverty in eastern and southern Africa including southern Sudan. The organisation works in partnership with marginal farmers and herders, helping them to manage their natural resources more effectively and build sustainable livelihoods on their land for future generations.
Samaritans
Samaritans provides confidential emotional support, 24 hours a day for people who are experiencing feelings of distress or despair, including those which could lead to suicide. Support is provided to all ages through the charity's 202 branches by 17,000 trained volunteers. Samaritans aim to promote better emotional health in the community, especially through the charity's outreach work in schools.
