Nick Gooding, Chairman of Lloyd’s Charities Trust and Senior Cargo Underwriter, XL London Markets told lloyds.com: “The Lloyd’s Market Charity Awards captured the imagination of the Lloyd’s market resulting in 70 applications for the charity awards from individuals in brokers, managing agents and Lloyd’s Corporation.”
The Awards were launched in 2007 by Lloyd’s Charities Trust, to recognise and support charities of importance to people working in the market. Market employees applied for £1,000 donations for a UK registered charity supported by them through either voluntary or fundraising commitment.
Originally 20 awards were to be made but due to the excellent response from the market, the Trustees of Lloyd’s Charities Trust decided to make 30 awards. Nick Gooding commented: “The Lloyd’s Market Charity Awards have been a phenomenal success. We are delighted to have received so many applications for the awards and 30 charities supporting projects in the UK will now benefit.”
