Recruitment process
1. Application form and online tests
The first stage is to fill in our online application form and answer numerical and verbal reasoning tests. We also verify the numeracy test at the assessment centre. The form is quite broad in focus, and will give you the opportunity to demonstrate your personal qualities as well as provide the usual factual data. There’s also a section in the form where you can explain why you think you’re right for Lloyd’s. Not an easy question to answer, and certainly one worth thinking about. It’s also a good idea to have a look through our hints and tips before you start.

2. Telephone Interview
If you are successful after the first stage, we’ll call you to arrange a mutually convenient time to conduct the telephone interview. This will be a competency based interview, where you will be asked to provide examples of things that you’ve achieved in regards to a particular competency, for example ‘team working’. Further information on the competencies we recruit for can be found in the hints and tips section. The interview should last about 30 minutes.

This is not simply a one-way interview; it is also a chance for you to ask us any further questions you may have either about Lloyd’s or the graduate programme. Any that aren’t answered in our FAQs section, of course.

3. Assessment Centres
If we’re impressed, you’ll be emailed the first available assessment centre dates and invited to come and visit us here at One Lime Street, in the heart of the City. Again, use this occasion as much to explore Lloyd’s as you do to make your mark on us. The assessment centre is held over two half days and we provide overnight accommodation for anyone who needs it. We won’t go into the specifics of what you’ll do on the day; however, it is likely to consist of:

  • A tour of the Lloyd’s building.
  • A chance to meet some of the Lloyd’s team – from recent graduates to senior managers.
  • A group exercise, so we can see how you work with others.
  • A face-to-face interview.
  • A written exercise, to see how you understand and present written material.
  • A presentation.
  • A role play, to see how you interact and solve problems, on a one-to-one basis.
    Verification of your numeracy test.

Please note that due to the number of applications that we receive, we are only able to provide candidates with feedback at assessment centre stage.

On behalf of everyone here we wish you the best of luck!
